1.(i) Beneath all uniforms……………….. what uniforms do you think the poet is speaking about?
Ans. Here uniforms does not mean what we generally understand by the word. The poet has used the term ‘Uniform’ either to mean the vari-ous types of dress worn by people of various countries or he may mean the people of various colours such as blacks and whites. Whatever may be the dress or the body colour all men are men.
(ii) How does the poet suggest that all people on earth are the same?
Ans. The poet suggests that all people on, earth have some common traits. They know the sunrays, air and water, they are fed by peaceful harvest and starved by the disturbance of war; in all countries people earn livelihood doing labour, people in all countries sleep and keep awake; they have strength and life is common to all men living in all the countries on the earth.
2. In stanza 1, find five ways in which we all are alike. Pick out the words.
Ans. No men are strange, no countries foreign; beneath all uniforms a single body breathes, the land our brothers walk upon is earth like this; We all shall lie (on the same earth).
3. How many common features can you find in stanza 2? Pick out the words:
